Sarah here 👋 This is where it all began for me - in Fiji 🇫🇯 around 5 years ago! I didn’t even stick around for graduation, a lady jumped on stage at the end of the seminar and started talking about volunteering around the world. Most people were leaving for the next class at this point but I stuck around and instantly I KNEW deep in my soul I had to go, that I would go. Have you ever felt like you didn’t even make the decision? But some higher power did? Well, this was one of those moments. I went home and told my mum I was gonna travel 29 hours alone, raise 3 grand (at the time I was poor student), and live with a Fijian family on their floor to help them build a school, I think she must of thought I was a bit crazy? @andreab2661 😂 anyways she didn’t laugh at me she supported me and never told me once that I couldn’t do it (which I know makes me luckier than a lot of my friends) she embraced the craziness and she helped me get there. Without the support of my mum and bestie I might not have embarked on the next chapter of my life after uni. I might not have accidentally stumbled across my purpose although it didn’t become super clear until later on, probably even 3 years later...but as I look back on my life I just KNOW this was the moment that changed everything. I was going to use my passions, beliefs, and talents to help people in whatever way I could to make the world a brighter place for everyone. It was absolutely the best thing I ever did. Without that trip I don’t know what I’d be doing now. Probably teaching and hating life. Listen to your gut and no matter how many crud shifts you have to do at Costcutter (like me - while your friends are out partying) to get there DO IT. Be determined and fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire because I promise those efforts will pay off, not always immediately but always eventually. You can do it, I believe in you. No goal is out of reach. You got this.
